Sailors Resto and Cafe, Kibuye/Karongi

Rachel writes:

Perched on the top floor of a large, red building in this “up and coming” town is Sailors, a family-run Resto and Café. Popular with locals, it’s mainly suited to the budget traveller looking to eat freshly cooked Rwandaise favourites, at a good price, and arguably serves the best beans in town! Whilst the main offering is the tasty all-day buffet serving a wide selection of hot traditional food such as beef stew, chips, banana stew, beans, salad and vegetables, local dishes such as “agatogo”, sambaza and ugali are also available to order. Sailors is also one of the only restaurants in town to serve breakfast, with omelettes cooked fresh to order, and tea and coffee available and served in small flasks. Plenty of seating is available, with outdoor seating for those wanting to watch the local life mooch by.
Sailors is centrally located on one of the main shopping streets in Kibuye and in good proximity to the market and bus station. It’s therefore a great option for travellers wanting decent food fast, before heading to their next destination.
